From 1 to 5 March, the Parliamentary State Secretary of the German Federal Ministry for Health visited Jeddah and Riyadh. In Jeddah, State Secretary Sabine Weiss participated in the 4th Global Ministerial Summit on Patient Safety, which started as a British-German initiative, and met the Minister for Health of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, Dr. Tawfiq Al Rabiah. The talks focussed on strengthening bilateral cooperation in the medical field. In this context, State Secretary Sabine Weiss met a number of Saudi doctors who completed their medical specialist training in Germany on 3 March and the Vice Minister in the Ministry of Education, Dr. Jasir Al Herbish, on 4 March. In addition, State Secretary Sabine Weiss visited a hospital and met representatives of a rehabilitation centre as well as Saudi Arabia’s G20 Sherpa Mazen Al Mubarak to discuss topics of mutual interest ahead of Saudi Arabia’s G20 presidency in 2020.
