Dear Followers,
Our social media channels are intended to inform about the work of the Embassy, foster dialogue and encourage respectful exchange with our community. We welcome your comments and value constructive discussions across our social media platforms.
To ensure that everyone feels welcome, we ask all users to observe the following guidelines. Please remember that you are interacting with real people. Comments that do not comply with this Netiquette may be hidden, deleted or reported in order to maintain a respectful and constructive environment.
1. Be respectful
We welcome different opinions and encourage open discussion. Please always communicate in a respectful, courteous and fair manner.
• Treat other users as you would like to be treated yourself.
• Debate ideas, not individuals. Personal attacks, insults or harassment are not acceptable.
• Respect that others may hold different views.
• We do not tolerate hate speech, discrimination, racism, antisemitism, sexism, threats, incitement to violence or other unlawful or offensive content.
• Comments that infringe the rights of others, including intellectual property rights, may be removed.
2. Stay on topic
Please ensure that your comments relate to the subject of the original post.
To keep discussions useful for everyone, we may remove:
• off-topic comments;
• duplicate comments;
• repetitive postings (“spam”); and
• content intended solely to disrupt discussions.
3. No advertising or spam
Our social media channels are intended for dialogue.
Please do not use them to:
• advertise products or services;
• promote commercial or private interests;
• repeatedly post identical content; or
• share unlawful material.
4. Protect your privacy
Please do not publish personal or confidential information in the comments, including passport numbers, visa reference numbers, phone numbers or email addresses.
For data protection reasons, we cannot discuss individual visa, passport or consular cases on social media. Please use the official contact channels listed on our website.
5. Share information responsibly
If you quote information, please ensure that it is accurate and, where appropriate, provide reliable sources.
Links to external websites should be relevant to the discussion. Repeated posting of identical links may be treated as spam.
6. User responsibility
Users are solely responsible for the content they publish.
Comments posted by users do not reflect the views of the German Embassy Riyadh, and the Embassy assumes no responsibility for user-generated content.
7. Moderation
The German Embassy Riyadh reserves the right to moderate its social media channels.
Comments may be hidden, deleted or reported if they:
• violate this Netiquette;
• contain offensive, abusive or unlawful content;

• intentionally spread misinformation that may cause harm; or
• otherwise prevent respectful and constructive dialogue.
Repeated or serious violations may result in users being blocked from our social media channels.
8. Availability
Our social media channels are monitored during regular working hours only.
They are not an official channel for emergencies or urgent consular assistance. In case of an emergency, please use the emergency contact details published on our website.
